You can do it
To help others

- Your old spectacles could help people in need around the world.
- We have collection facilities for unwanted spectacles at Sidmouth Library in Blackmore Drive, Sidmouth; also at the Marie Curie charity shop (by Mountain Warehouse) in Sidmouth's Fore Street. If you deposit good condition old spectacles at either of those locations, they will automatically be passed on to the Sidmouth Lions for recycling. After checking and refurbishment, they are then usually sent for re-use in third world countries, under a Lions Clubs International sight conservation programme. You may also contact Sidmouth Lions directly via the 'Contact Us' link tab on this website.
Your old hearing aids can also be used to help those with hearing difficulties around the world. Please just contact us and we will arrange collection. We can send the hearing aids via the Lions Club's network for checking and any necessary refurbishment work.
To help the environment
- Our Sidmouth Green Bag was designed and commissioned by Sidmouth Lions to encourage use of bio-degradable bags in the Sid Valley and thereby reduce the use of the ubiquitous plastic bags which add so much to our environmental pollution problems.
To help yourself (or someone else)
- Our Message in a Bottle scheme enables you to keep basic personal and medical details (such as details of medical conditions, name of emergency contact, details of any pets living in the house) in a place where the Emergency services will be able to find it. Please contact us for further details
- MedicAlert provides a potentially life-saving identification service for those with hidden medical conditions or allergies. Please contact us for more details.
